Types of Polyester Filament Yarn

Polyester filament yarn is a type of synthetic fiber. It is a thermoplastic fiber that has a high tensile strength and elongation properties. It is a durable, versatile, and economical choice for a wide variety of applications.
It is used to make textile fabrics, and is also an excellent industrial fiber for ropes, conveyor belts, safety belts, and tire fabric. It is available in a wide range of counts and fiber types, including monofilament, microfilament, multifilament, and twisted.
Filament yarn is made by taking single polyester filaments, grouping them together and twisting or air-entangling them to make them workable. The filaments are then spun into yarns with different lengths, counts, and lusters.
Textured yarn is a type of bulky yarn that has been changed from flat filaments by crimping (texturing). The texturing process changes the textile character of the originally flat yarns by introducing durable crimps, coils, and loops along the length of the filaments. This changes the fabric's capacity for moisture absorption and transport, its air and vapour permeability, its resistance to lustre, and its ability to resist pilling.
Generally, the textured yarns are more stretchable and have greater air permeability than the flat filaments. They can also be manufactured at higher spinning speeds than the flat yarns, which can improve the tensile and elastic properties of the final product.
Blends and Interweaving of Fibers
In a blend, the reinforcing fibre (usually cotton) is combined with the polymer fiber. The reinforcing fiber is usually a natural fibre such as cotton, wool, or linen. It is blended with the polyester fiber by using a chemical-mechanical (torsional crimping) or thermal/chemical method.
The polyester/cotton blend is the most common blend for polyester yarns, and it is available in a variety of count ranges. It includes medium-to-fine counts that are most suitable for clothing, and finer-counts are more suited for hosiery.
It can also be blended with other synthetic fibers such as nylon, acrylic, and wool to produce a variety of textured yarns that are suited to various applications. It is available in a range of lengths and counts, and is an excellent material for a wide variety of technical applications such as sportswear, woven and knitted apparel, and other home textiles.
These textured yarns can be produced at different spindle speeds, and the final yarn may be machine-washable, heat-resistant, or flame retardant. They can also be dyed with water-based or solvent-based pigments.
Dyeing uniformity of textured yarn is an important quality indicator that must be checked before supplying to customers. Typically, the uniformity of polyester textured yarn is measured using the Cv value or the U value. The cv value is expressed in a percentage, and the U value is measured in a number of grams per square meter.
Increasing demand for polyester filament yarns from the textile and household industries is expected to drive the market growth over the forecast period. The growing adoption of textile materials in medical and surgical applications is also driving the market growth.
